MCGEEVER RECREATION GROUNDS

Public BBQ

A camping ground at Thallon with the painted silos as its backdrop, and the artwork lit at night so you get them twice. Unpowered sites are free; powered ones are $10 a night, cash, paid over the bar at the pub up the road - about the cheapest hookup going. There is a dump point, bins, free wifi and free phone charging, a new barbecue and shelter, heaps of seating and tables, hot showers, and a new playground with built-in trampolines, a flying fox and plenty of equipment. Grounds are spacious, with room for about half a dozen vans on power, so arrive early for a good spot. The pub and corner shop are an easy walk. The older toilet block is dated and has been found needing a clean. The community has put real effort into welcoming travellers, so donate or eat at the pub.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
